Richard – With CCS since 1995
Richard has been part of the Cambridge Courier Services team since the mid-1990s, delivering throughout Cambridge, Haverhill, Newmarket and far beyond. Over the years, he has driven everything from small vans to 3.5-tonne vehicles, adapting as the business and technology have evolved.
During his time at CCS, Richard has witnessed major changes in the courier industry, from traditional map reading to satellite navigation, live vehicle tracking and mobile communications. He has also seen significant developments in the UK road network, including improvements to the A1 and the introduction of traffic restrictions and congestion charging in major cities.
One of his most challenging jobs involved delivering a full-size piano to a second-floor property – a physically demanding task that required both determination and careful handling. By contrast, his most memorable journey was a three-day trip to Marseille for a shop-fitting company, a unique experience that highlighted the diverse range of deliveries handled by CCS.
Mark – With CCS since 2002
Mark has been a valued member of our courier team for well over two decades. Based in Cambridgeshire, he has handled countless urgent and unusual deliveries for customers who rely on our same-day courier service in Cambridge.
One particularly time-critical job involved collecting and delivering a pair of spectacles to Heathrow Airport, where a businessman was about to board a flight to the USA. The pressure of the situation meant there was no margin for delay – and Mark ensured the delivery was completed in time.
Another memorable job saw Mark asked to transport an empty cardboard box from London back to Cambridge. While unusual, the job perfectly illustrates the trust customers place in CCS and our ability to deliver exactly what is requested, no matter how simple or strange it may appear.
Mick – With CCS since 2008
Mick joined Cambridge Courier Services in 2008 after previously working in a factory environment. He quickly embraced the independence and responsibility that comes with being a professional courier.
One of Mick’s first memorable jobs involved the delivery of five jam jar lids to a halted production line in Somerset. That small but critical delivery allowed an entire factory to restart production, demonstrating the importance of time-critical logistics and the real-world impact of a fast, reliable courier service.
